exchanges
2010
The solo exhibit "exchanges" held at the Icehouse featured original work in sculpture, film, and drawing that
initiated a dialogue with the art of the 20th century modernist, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, specifically referencing
the film, "Lightplay: Black / White / Grey" and installations from the "Silver Festival" at the Bauhaus.
Taking the open-air atrium of the "Cathedral Room" as a point of departure, a metalic sculpture was suspended
from the highest points of the building to hover cloudlike above the space. Entitled, "like rain", this piece features
abstract forms derived from aluminum mesh and criss-crossing lines of galvanized metal. Situated in the "Silver Room", the aluminum mobile, "letters to M.N." generated a video projection and a drawing series of the same name.
Both sculptures illustrate my work with site-specific installation, a discipline in which the artwork intervenes with
the intrinsic character of its environs.
